Holiday Concerts

Music from the Cathedral

Please join us for a concert of glorious choral music for a cathedral setting. The program features Giovanni Gabrieli’s Jubilate Deo, a double chorus motet written for St. Mark’s Cathedral in Venice; Alma redemptoris mater by Johannes Ockeghem; and the justifiably famous Nuper rosarum flores by Guillaume Dufay, written for the consecration of the Florence Cathedral in 1436. The concert also includes Duruflé’s Quatre motets sur des thèmes grégoriens (Four Motets on Gregorian Themes), medieval English carols, and works by Sweelinck, Schütz, Bruckner, and Willan. To end the program, Amare Cantare is proud to present Trois Chansons, a group of French carols arranged by chorus member Steve LeBel.
